Hit the Ground Running

Busy doesn’t even begin to describe our personal and professional lives for the past several months. We knew the holidays would be slightly chaotic with orders, as we all know that professional portraits make wonderful holiday gifts! However, we didn’t account for all the planning that is involved in completing holiday orders, photographing holiday parties, traveling for professional events, and of course squeezing in a well deserved Caribbean vacation! Before 2012 was over we had surpassed our wedding bookings goal for 2012 and are currently booking events for 2013, plus we have many wonderful changes taking place in the Spring we can’t wait to share with you.

We have had such a blast the last few months that I don’t think we can do a quick recap of it all, but we can certainly try! Here’s what we’ve been up to, in no particular order: Caribbean Cruise for Destination Photo Education, Bella Rosa shoot at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, featured in multiple articles in Professional Photographer Magazine, featured in Wedding Planner Magazine, had a booth at the Richmond Bridal Showcase, photographed Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin, and spoke at Imaging USA!

Autumn in New York

It means so much to us when we are chosen to photograph a couple’s wedding or a family’s special event- we say this often, but it’s true! It’s even sweeter when we have the chance to see a family grow and be a part of their memories year after year. We photographed the Havaldar’s wedding years ago and were so excited to photograph their growing family, puppies included! When they called us to photograph their family in Central Park, we responded with an enthusiastic YES! We love going on location and what a better trip than our favorite city- New York! We’ve done multiple sessions in Central Park and we’d like to share just a few of our Autumn favorites.

The Golden Touch

We have photographed quite a few weddings over the years and know that our clients work extremely hard to add personal touches to their special day, so we wanted to brag a little about one of those clients. JR and Mary-Blanche’s wedding was full of beautiful details carefully chosen with several key components in mind. The bride’s mother created a golden glowing centerpiece for all guests to enjoy, a wishing tree adorned with crystals surrounded by candlelight. What a mesmerizing centerpiece for the entrance of the ballroom! Guests were asked to share their wishes for the happy couple on special stationary that was hung by the branches and by the end of the evening it looked like a glowing weeping willow tree. They also incorporated the K from their last name on their cake, stationary, and the monogram that shined on the dance floor, while also keeping the gold theme in the lighting design around the room. With all the special attention to detail, it was not surprising how beautiful and magical the reception turned out to be and we hope that it inspires other couples to add their own personalities to their special event.

Infusion of Color and Culture

Every wedding season brings us new and exciting challenges and wonderful couples that appreciate our artistic vision. We are lucky to have so many creative clients that want to infuse their personalities and traditions into their wedding day, which allows us the ability to feature their weddings and their creativity to publications and blogs for others to enjoy and be inspired.

Jag and Priya’s wedding was so full of color and tradition that we could not point the camera in a bad direction. The amazing team that helped Jag and Priya with their wedding day really showcased their talents and gave us, as well as their guests, a magical journey. A Virginia Vineyard Wedding

When reading about far away destination weddings or any wedding that takes place outside our own city, we sigh imagining ourselves photographing in those gorgeous locations. We are truly lucky to live in a state that offers us so many various landscapes and backdrops that are purely breathtaking. We were so fortunate to tour Orange County back in the Spring, our own backyard, that we could not wait to photograph an event in that part of Virginia and capture the true beauty of natural landscapes and historical venues.

We had the amazing opportunity to photograph a gorgeous couple in Charlottesville, Virginia and revisit the small quaint towns that make this part of Virginia so tranquil and magical. The reception venue the couple chose was King Family Vineyards, a spectacular place with acres of luscious grass, rolling hills, and open sky. If you are searching for the perfect place for your wedding that offers natural and simple beauty, then look towards the mountains of Virginia!
